About Our Signs

We strive for realism - not a toy-like appearance.

Each sign is precision-cut and scaled to exacting standards, crafted from a durable, premium-grade paper material. Prototypes are developed using mathematically derived scale calculations based on thorough research of original sign dimensions, ensuring authentic representation on your layout.

Pole Types

Metal Rod:  A durable and simple option that offers stability and easy installation. Ideal for signs requiring a slim, unobtrusive mount.

Creosote Wood:  Designed to replicate a weathered 4x4 or 6x6 post treated with preservative. A classic choice for prototypical railroads and rural scenes.

Brown Wood:  Represents a painted 4x4 or 6x6 wooden post. Offers a clean, well-maintained appearance ideal for layout variety.

Scale bass wood 4"x4" posts are, of course, more fragile than scale 6"x6" posts, especially in N Scale.  We mostly prefer the look of scaled 4"x4" over the 6"x6" wood posts, but either size is prototypical.

Installation:  For a prototypical appearance, mount highway signs so that the bottom of the sign is a scale 7' above the ground.  Your railroad company runs trains; you don’t need the hassle of scale figures filing negligence lawsuits when they bump their little heads on low signs. We give you plenty of post to trim as necessary!

Removal from package:  Signs are mounted to double-sided tape with a piece of cardstock placed over them to hold them in place. It’s best to carefully cut the cardstock on either side of the posts, then gently pry the posts off of the tape.  We find bent fine needle tweezers work best for lifting the signs off of the tape.  We make every effort to make sure your signs are packaged and boxed safely so they arrive to you undamaged.  

Production:  Most of our signs are hand cut. Why? Machine cut signs lack a realistic crisp edge, and sign edges are as important as the front and back. Sometimes signs are made to order, so it might take us a few days to make, package and ship your signs. 

Returns and Refunds:  We do not accept returns or refunds; however, if there is an issue with your order, we will gladly remake the sign and cover shipping costs.

If a sign becomes detached from its pole during shipping, a small drop of glue will reattach it. Please contact us if you experience any problems — we take pride in our products and want you to be completely satisfied.
